Leading Servants Ministry

We are chosen for service. We are here to serve others. If we don’t possess a servant’s attitude we are not qualified to serve. We should be leading servants. When we serve with Jesus we become His tools. Religious leaders are different from spiritual leaders. Religious leaders adopt an industrial theory of leadership which is selfish, events driven and based on competition. A spiritual leader serves regardless of position and adopts a transactional theory of leadership patterned after Jesus. He said, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will recover their sight and that the oppressed will be set free.” Luke 4:18.
Servants, therefore, play a very important role. We must set a good example, because we represent Christ to the world, and we must always act with the mission in mind and be accessible to those in need. Remember! God doesn’t always call the equipped, but He always equips the ones he calls.
One way He equips the ones He calls is through teaching. We never stop learning how to follow Jesus and we never graduate from His “servant ship” school. Wise servants are continuing learners, andif we stop learning, we stop being wise servants.
We often talk about preparing our youth for leadership, but what about preparing them for “servant ship.” One must first learn to follow and serve our Lord Jesus Christ and his fellowmen before one can lead. Jesus was teachable. He was dependent on, and learned from His heavenly Father (John 5:19). Jesus spent three years teaching His disciples to be servants not leaders. “He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said; whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” –Mark 9:35.
Are you a leader or a servant? We love leading but do not love serving. Servants are willing to serve others in sacrificial, humbling ways. Leading servants are not those who are willing to be servants, but are willing to be treated as servants. No complaining and no murmuring. No need for praise, thanks or encouragement .They do not judge others for not being servants, but has a pure desire for them to experience the joy of being a fellow servant. No task is beneath the leading servant. They have nothing to prove. They serve to give not get. They are never worried about popularity. They seek to develop a Christ-like character, not a man-made reputation. God calls us to be servants. Period! Will you be one this year?
